What causes a preferred stock share to rise in value?
And what is the difference of a "L series" vs a "J series" Thankyou

- I do not know the L vs J. But preferred stock can not only rise in value, it can also drop in value. Factors that effect the price of preferred stock include the level of interest rates, the credit quality or lack of of the preferred issue, the economic outlook of the company that has issued the preferred stock, and investor fear. At the moment investor fear is playing a very large role in the value of preferred stock.
- My simple understanding is that the same things that cause common stock to rise cause preferred ones to rise too, except preffered gets shareholder good stuff first and pays for shareholder bad things last. Bondholders get their dues first in real big messes. I don't know L & J either.
