Why doesn't a stock chart's graph always show a huge jump of fall for a stock split ?

In a 3 for 1 split, shouldn't the chart show the huge drop in price per share on that day? And in a 6 for 1 reverse split, shouldn't the chart show a huge gain in stock price for that day, the day the stock split?

1. the charts are always split adjusted going back in time in order to have an even comparison.
